Parent Education Group
What: Parent Education Group is a once-a-week group that engages parents whose children/youth are affected by parental mental illness and addictions. The group covers a range of attachment-parent focused topics.
When: Each group runs for 8 weeks. The groups usually occur 2 or 3 times per year (Winter, Spring and Fall.) Groups are held during evening hours. Dinner and childminding are provided.
The next group will run Tuesdays from October 22nd– November 26th, 6-7:30pm.
Where: Groups are held at the Garratt Wellness Centre (7504 Chelsea Place, Richmond)
Who: The groups are for parents of kids/youth who are affected by parental mental illness or addictions.
The groups are led by trained facilitators who are either program staff or from local partnering organizations.
Why: These multi-week groups offer opportunities to learn new information and build new skills for parents whose children/youth are affected by parental mental illness and addictions.
Parent Education Groups are open to Supporting Families Affected by Parental Mental Illness and Addictions clients:
- Who are parents of kids/youth affected by parental mental illness or substance use
- Living or working in Richmond
- Who have decided in partnership with the Supporting Families Clinical Lead that the group would be beneficial for the parent
